As a response, the general objective of the project is to restore the livelihoods of vulnerable households through the provision of rain-fed millet and cowpea seeds to households in areas where the level of food insecurity (Cadre Harmonise, November 2022) is in phase 3 and above. The project will also provide animal feed and veterinary care to agro-pastoralists and vulnerable pastoralists in the regions of Tillabéri, Diffa, Tahoua and Agadez in support of the livestock lean period. The seeds distributed in the framework of this project will be adapted to climate change, and particularly to the drought and shorter rain cycles, through the adoption of draught-resistant varieties,
The project will also assist returnees’ households in Diffa, who are part of the government’s return plan.
